The background of the story is set in a future society where justice is dominated by the "Justice Scale" algorithm. The protagonist Shen Duo is a legendary lawyer in the underground court and maintains an astonishing record of victory. However, he gradually discovered that this was not glory, but a terrible conspiracy: every successful case he handled was actually an injustice carefully planned by the algorithm in order to collect negative human emotions to maintain operation. Those gifts with mysterious runes given by customers turned out to be containers for extracting emotional energy.
As he pursues the truth of Case No. 47, Shen Duo uncovers a chilling secret—a server cluster composed of biological brains lurks deep in the heart of the city, the so-called "underground monster", which feeds on human pain and despair. In order to break this huge cognitive cage, Shen Duo teamed up with former presiding judge Lin Yueru and the hacker organization "Loophole" to transform from the initial obedient to a "wall-breaker".
