Modern human civilization did not evolve naturally. Twelve thousand years ago, the Old Ones and Outer Gods ruled the Earth, and humanity was their “experiment, sacrifice, and object of observation.” A group of beings known as the Ancient Gods, who were no benevolent force but merely guardians of order, waged a sealing war and drove most of the Old Ones into slumber beneath the sea, underground, and in other dimensions. To prevent humanity from touching forbidden knowledge again, the Ancient Gods erased 99% of prehistoric civilization, leaving only myths, religions, and symbols as echoes. The seals are not eternal. When the stars align, all the rulers will awaken, and Earth will return to a “Dark Age.”
