Notes on Bone Cleansing

After a nuclear war in the thirtieth century, the world has become a radioactive wasteland. The protagonist unexpectedly becomes a rotting corpse with its own consciousness. In agony, he strips away every last bit of decaying flesh, transforming into a lucid skeleton and using pain to prove he is still human.

Alone in the desolate apocalypse, he rescues a U.S. military squad, encounters a female soldier, and later comes face-to-face with a mysterious priest who fills him with dread. In his body of bare bones, he begins a lonely and perilous struggle to survive the apocalypse, caught between mutated monsters, uncanny natural enemies, and the resolve to hold on to his humanity.
