Ancient setting, alternate world
The world is divided into This Realm (the ancient world), the Other Realm (the modern world), and the Upper Realm (Baiyu Jing).
Long, long ago, a great battle among the Fates took place in Baiyu Jing. The Fate Say Bu De (One), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of cause and effect; the Fate Qiu Bu De (Two), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of time; and the Fate Wen Bu De, who controlled the Heavenly Dao of space, fought against a new generation of young Fates. They were the Fate Feathered Serpent God (Xi), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of anger; the Fate Sanqing (Shui), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of sorrow; the Fate Bahui (Wu), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of pain; the Fate Wheel-Turning Fire King (Huo), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of joy; the Fate Great Black Heaven (Li), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of fear; and the Fate Muci Tathagata (Lin), who controlled the Heavenly Dao of calm. In the end, the rising Fates won under Bahui’s leadership. Say Bu De’s body contained the laws of the world, so it was forged into Baiyu Jing’s outer walls to divide the Upper Realm. The corpses of Wen Bu De and Qiu Bu De (Two and Three), meanwhile, were pieced together to form the Sun Gate.
With the Fates governing time and space defeated and stripped of their status, time and space fell into chaos. The Sun Gate drew many “Jade People” from the Other Realm to serve as the Fates’ human pillars, giving the Fates a past. Only when a Jade Person became a god could a Fate reclaim their rightful place.
The protagonist group had only just been drawn by the Sun Gate from the Other Realm into This Realm. They were wandering among the six nations of Jiuli (Wheel-Turning Fire King), Later Shu (Bahui), Southern Tang (Sanqing), Western Liang (Feathered Serpent God), Qingqiu (Great Black Heaven), and Northern Qi (Muci Tathagata). Yet long before the primordial world had taken shape, they had already reclaimed their places as the new Fates, defeated One (One), Two (Two), and Three (Three), and, in the distant future, faced the foreign evil god Dijun (Xin Mou), all to protect Baiyu Jing’s Heavenly Dao from being stolen by an outsider god.
