I was born in the 1980s, in Longxi'ao, deep in the mountains of southern Jiangxi. I grew up with nothing, so poor that even my schoolbooks had to be used sparingly. My childhood was bitter, my teenage years painful, and my youth filled with tears. During an exam, I lost the grandmother who loved me most; through wind and rain, I relied on my studies to make my way out of the mountains. From a rural junior high school to the county's No. 1 High School, from working at the bottom to shouldering the weight of my country, my family, and my team, I have lived without connections and with no way back. All I have is a life of hardship, a determined heart, and a path on which I fight my way forward with everything I have.
Others write feel-good stories. I write about life. There are no cheats, no dramatic comebacks, only gritting my teeth through hardship and waiting for light in the darkness.
The land is vast and the years are silent. But I have always believed that the land will not forsake those who have suffered.
