Wukong’s Past Life

The Monkey King's Past Life breaks away from the traditional Journey to the West perspective, delving into the Monkey King's past lives from the dawn of chaos and using his origins to explore profound questions about fate and one's true nature.

Everyone knows the Monkey King's rebellious spirit and supernatural powers, but few have sought the roots of his temperament. This book focuses on the connection between his past-life nature and the choices he makes in this life, showing how our present character and actions all bear the marks of the past.

Yet the story is not trapped in fatalism. Knowing where you came from does not mean being bound by the past; it means understanding yourself and recognizing your true nature. His natural pride is part of his innate character, while learning to rein in his sharp edges and shoulder his duties is a conscious journey of cultivation and transformation.

In just a few words, the story builds a spiritual core around one's origins, reincarnation, and growth. It reminds us that everyone carries the imprint of their own past. There is no need to take pride in one's origins or to lose heart over them. Looking back helps us understand our hearts, and staying true to ourselves gives us the resolve to move forward.

True awakening means carrying your original aspirations into the future.

The novel follows the Monkey King's many lives after his birth from a stone, revealing the origins of his proud and unyielding nature. The rise and fall of countless lifetimes temper his wildness and restlessness, while trials beyond measure forge a sense of duty and purpose. In this way, the spirit monkey of heaven and earth achieves a profound transformation, and the classic Journey to the West gains a moving and complete account of his past life.
