Introduction to the work
"The Path of the Pioneer" is set in Qingdao in 1976. It tells the story of Xu Ping, an English major graduate, who was assigned to a foreign exchange bank and was ordered to tame the Italian Olivetti computer that no one could understand. Faced with unfamiliar machines, obscure English manuals, doubts from colleagues, and the blow of failure, he took root in the computer room with astonishing perseverance, delved into technology from scratch, and successively overcame the two major problems of real-time display of foreign exchange prices and electronic foreign exchange accounting. He stuck to the truth in the data storm, broke the limitations of manual accounting with an accurate and reliable system, and became a pioneer in China's financial electronics. The novel depicts the tenacity and responsibility of pioneers in the wave of the times, and composes a legend of struggle starting from scratch and overcoming difficulties.
