Shanghai, 1940, an isolated enclave.

Bai Guodong has three identities: an inspector in the Wang Jingwei regime, a top agent for the Military Statistics Bureau, and an underground Communist intelligence operative.

Every day, he navigates the guns of the Japanese, the collaborators, and his comrades, telling three kinds of lies, memorizing three sets of codes, and living three separate lives.

When his mentor defects, his lover is arrested, and every escape route is cut off, he becomes the loneliest boat adrift in a sea of spies.

Ledgers, codes, poison, gun barrels… every step is a cliff’s edge.

But the greatest danger comes from within: even he is beginning to lose sight of who he really is.

“I am Bai Guodong.”

“No, you’re not.”

“Then… who am I?”
