A world where xianxia, period fantasy, and cyberpunk collide:
She was once a carefree young Daoist mage from the countryside, but with two remnant souls hidden inside her, she was swept into a struggle over the survival of two worlds.
The Yaotian Sect secretly plunders living souls from Earth in the name of the “righteous path,” sustaining the prosperity of the Daoist world. And Kan Xiaokan’s origins are far more complicated than she knows: her seven mortal souls and the three spiritual souls of Qiwuh, the sect leader of the Yaotian Sect, were once two halves of the same soul.
On one side are Qingshan and Mingyue, who raised her. To save her, they infused her with the remnant soul of a dear friend, giving her a second life. On the other is the other half of her soul, Qiwuh, a woman who transmigrated from Earth and founded the Yaotian Sect with her own hands. She struggles painfully between ambition and humanity.
There is also Qingfeng and Qingshan’s devotion unto death, Lingxi and Mingyue’s love at first sight that lasts a thousand years, Xingyuan’s quiet protection, Guiyan’s blood-soaked, tearful past... Every one of them must make a difficult choice between good and evil.
When the truth is revealed, Xiaokan stands at a crossroads of fate: should she accept her destiny, merge the two halves of her soul, and gain ultimate power? Or defy fate and protect the ordinary yet warm home she holds dear?
In the battle at the Abyss of Guixu, the barriers between the two worlds collapse and spiritual energy vanishes. Everything returns to the ordinary.
Based on the growth of Sanxiu Xiaokan, this book unfolds a grand picture of the symbiosis between Taoism and modernity and the energy game between the two worlds. It is a Chinese fantasy work with both refreshing feeling and depth. The core highlight of the story is the vivid three-dimensional group portraits: Xiaokan's passionate bond, Qiwu's mixed reputation, Mingyue's bumpy past, Qingshan's unfinished ambition, and a series of group portraits such as Qingfeng's free and easy, Lingxi's cuteness, Xingyuan's forbearance, Tianshu's guilt, Duanyue's paranoia, etc., All of which are full and vivid. They are not stereotyped supporting characters, but key chess pieces that promote the direction of the story. This work breaks out of the "competitive and competitive" routine of traditional fairy tales, and takes "Taoism is benevolence" as the core. Within the grand framework of a parallel world, it tells a story about protection, resistance and reincarnation of heaven. It not only has the artistic conception of Chinese style ink painting, but also has the compact rhythm of online writing. It has found an excellent balance between refreshing feeling and depth. It is a Chinese style fantasy novel worth reading carefully. What I originally wanted to write about was the Nine Worlds. I only wrote about the world of Taoism, but too few people read it, so I had no choice but to finish it.
It is suitable for reading with patience, and the descriptions are very detailed. The author said that the magic chapters in the first volume are a bit like Maoshan secrets, fantasy ancient novels, the chaotic era of Taoism and the earth. This concept is quite new. I thought it was the next step, but I didn't expect it to be different. The emotional description at the beginning was a bit too much, but later on the author relaxed his writing and it became more and more interesting. Chapter 5 tells a story, it's so good. Other works are good at the beginning, but this one is good from the end.
I'll give it four stars first. A lot of people have read it. I also saw it accidentally while listening to novels. Let's see what I write next
