In life, Wei Nuan was an ordinary bookstore worker, working from eight in the morning to nine at night without benefits. He realized that the cleaner in every instance was the same person. After following her through five instances, he confirmed that Wei Nuan was his “sleeping pill.” To make Wei Nuan hypnotize him, Shao Shuai tried everything: kidnapping her, whipping her, cutting her with a knife, even chopping her into pieces. Wei Nuan had signed a contract with the System and couldn't die, but the pain was real. At first, she hypnotized him to protect herself. Later, when she realized he was doing it on purpose, she simply refused to hypnotize him no matter what.

Shao Shuai tortured her in three instances in a row without getting so much as a single hypnosis. After more than ten days without sleep, his head throbbed with pain. He gave up his clear rewards and asked the System for help. The System said it couldn't transfer Wei Nuan's ghost ability to him, but they could form a ghost pact. A ghost pact would let them share sensations, and Wei Nuan would help him so she wouldn't have to feel the pain herself.
