Chen Mo has not had a dream for 187 consecutive days. Until that rainy night, when he took a nap while working the night shift in the library, he suddenly fell into the nightmare of a strange woman - she was being dragged into the burning abyss by countless hands. What's even more terrifying is that when he woke up, he found the woman dead in the reading area not far away. The forensic report showed that she "spontaneously combusted in her sleep."
This is just the beginning. Bizarre "deaths in dreams" incidents have occurred one after another in the city: some people dreamed that the bathtub was really filled with sea water after drowning, and some people dreamed of falling and disappearing from the roof of the apartment building. Chen Mo was horrified to find that he had become the only awake person between the two worlds - when others were randomly thrown into strange dreams, he could remember every detail and even bring back items from the dreams.
As the "dream plague" spreads, reality begins to distort: the fire escape of the office building leads to the 18th underground floor that does not exist, and medical staff with strange stitches wander around the corridors of the hospital. What made Chen Mo most uneasy was the woman in black who always appeared at key points. She seemed to know him, but refused to reveal her identity, leaving only obscure symbolic clues in every dream.
When Chen Mo rescued a child trapped in an infinite loop of nightmares, the "Dream Stealers" organization came to visit. They call this plague a prelude to the "Great Awakening", and Chen Mo's ability is the final key to opening the "door". Now, he must choose between two equally dangerous options: join the Dream Thieves and become the builders of a new world, or find a way to close the "Gate" - even if it means losing forever the precious bonds gained in dreams.
