1950: My Rivers and Mountains

[No System + All-Out War + Ensemble Historical Cast]

Tactical analyst Lu Chuan accidentally transmigrates to 1950.

He's no top soldier or weapons-industry tycoon, just a military researcher from peacetime. He understands tactical data, but not the life-and-death reality of the battlefield.

He becomes Lu Changhe, a trembling new recruit aboard a train bound for Korea, with a small notebook tucked against his chest.

He thinks his knowledge of the future will make him a “prophet” on the battlefield.

But he soon discovers that at minus 40 degrees Celsius at Lake Changjin, Tieshan teaches him to thaw a rifle bolt with urine; amid the relentless shelling at Shangganling, Gou Sheng teaches him what it means to “kill one and break even, kill two and come out ahead”…

From a frightened bystander, he gradually makes his way into the heart of the smoke and gunfire. He draws tunnel maps, calculates trajectories, handles logistics, and works on disease prevention…

From a foot soldier in Third Company, he rises through the ranks to become a staff officer in the People's Volunteer Army.

He meets the founding generals and revolutionary heroes written about in history books, along with countless veteran soldiers.

He writes down name after name: those frozen into ice sculptures, those who blocked gunfire with their own bodies, those who pulled the pins on grenades and died alongside the enemy.

Then he nearly breaks down.

“Xiao Lu, war isn't a card game. Sometimes you lose a round so the people who come after you can learn how to win.”

At last, Lu Chuan understands: he didn't come here to be a savior. He came to take the rifles from those veteran soldiers and live a few more years on their behalf, to remember for them that the secret of this army isn't in its armory, but in the hearts of its people.
