The Outcast: In Republican-Era China, I Started by Becoming the Ghost-Hand King's Disciple

At a roadside tea stall, a few idlers gathered to shoot the breeze.

Passerby One sighed. “Who do you think is the biggest troublemaker under heaven, Chen Mo or Wu Gensheng?”

Passerby Two waved a hand. “Do you even have to ask? It’s obviously Wu Gensheng. He’s the leader of the All-Sex Sect. No matter how much trouble Chen Mo causes, he’s still one of Wu’s people, isn’t he?”

Passerby Three shook his head and scoffed. “You don’t know what you’re talking about. If you ask me, it’s Chen Mo. Wherever there are crowds, he barges in. Wherever there’s peace, he stirs things up. He’s behind most of the turmoil in the world.”

The three were arguing so heatedly that their faces were turning red when a man who had been quiet the whole time suddenly spoke, slowly silencing them all with a single sentence:

“You’re all wrong.”

Everyone froze and turned to look. The man picked up his coarse porcelain teacup, took a sip, and said calmly:

“How is Chen Mo a troublemaker? He’s the one holding the stick and stirring the shit. Everyone around him is just a stick he uses to stir it.”

The whole table fell silent, then nodded together in deep agreement.

Chen Mo transmigrates to the Republican era, into the world of The Outcast, and finds himself turned into a beggar. He has a chance encounter with Ghost Hand Wang, becomes his apprentice, and awakens the Strongest Applause System.

As long as he can amaze someone, he earns Applause Coins, which he can use to gain skills and improve his cultivation and life force.

And so Chen Mo sets off down a one-way road of repeatedly courting death.
