When the Scent of Gardenias Drifted Across the Lens

[A traditional Chinese medicine doctor × a photographer] Before he met her, he called the whole world home. After he met her, he came home only for her. He offers the rest of his life; she promises him tenderness. From falling in love to growing old together, from two people to a family of four. My moxa warms no one but you. My camera captures no mountains or rivers, only your life. Lin Wanzhi is a traditional Chinese medicine doctor at a small clinic. She has spent her life surrounded by the scent of herbs and the glow of moxa, expecting her days to pass peacefully until old age. Then, one late night, a man covered in the dust of the road knocked on her door, his stomach pain flaring up. He is a photographer who has seen countless mountains and rivers, a man who has made the world his home but has nowhere to return to. Yet the moment he meets her, he suddenly understands what it means to feel at peace. “I’ve photographed starry skies and oceans, but nothing compares to the tenderness in your eyes,” he says. “I know pulses and herbs, but only you bring peace to my heart,” she says. From then on His camera captures no more scenery, only her. Her moxa treats no one but him. From a chance encounter to a home shared by two; from meals and seasons to a family of four. No melodrama, no heartbreak, just a gentle love that grows little by little. The fragrance of gardenias drifts through the viewfinder, and love fills the rest of their lives. She spends her life healing others, and bows her head for love. He wanders until he finds shore, and stays there only for her.
