On the moon, in the Guanghan Palace, Chang'e sees the full moon as an endless cage.
“Dayi, I miss you.” Chang'e lowers her gaze to the blue planet, Earth.
At that moment, Zhong Ding rises into the sky from Earth.
“Fairy Sister, why the sorrowful look? What troubles you?”
“I miss my beloved husband. I was forced to eat the elixir that made him ascend to immortality, and in the end I became a god, condemned to dwell on this icy moon.” Chang'e sighs softly, guilt filling her eyes.
“Goddess Sister, I have a way to return you to mortal life.”
“Reincarnation Envoy! All I have to do is pluck the thread of destiny above your head and tie it to mine. I’ll become a god in your place. What do you say?”
“You can turn back my fate and make my dream come true?”
Chang'e's head snaps up.
Her gaze wavers, and her heart is torn.
At last, she grits her teeth and says firmly,
“Go ahead! I don't need this thread that makes me a god!”
“Goddess Sister, I'll become a god in your place!”
