[Ensemble cast + mindless thrills + putting on an act + literary flair + face-slapping comeback + urban supernatural powers + humanity above all + madness]

[The story takes off in Chapter 11. Skip ahead if you don't want to read the earlier chapters.]

Xu Shu suffers from delusions and often gets lost in unreal scenes. But gradually, he discovers that some of the things he imagines keep appearing in reality. Then one day, he dreams of human bodies beneath grotesque insect faces and a blood-red hell. When he wakes, a red tattoo has suddenly appeared on his left chest, leaving no doubt in his mind:

“None of this is fake!”

“The immortal poet who bridges the old and the new.”

“The great being who judges the endless mist.”

Flickering candlelight fell across Xu Shu's face as the church bells rang out, distant and clear. A man spoke in a low voice:

“Abandon all hope, you who enter here.”

“Those who take up this world shall be cursed and made to suffer every pain under heaven.”
