I've played FF14 for eight years, and I always said that if I could really go to Eorzea, I'd protect the Scions, stop the Calamities, and see with my own eyes the land beyond the screen. Then one night, the red light of Dalamud shone into the real world. When I woke up, I was in the ruins of Western Thanalan, surrounded by artillery fire, with screams in my ears and the frightened, trembling young Tataru in my arms. There was no loading screen, no chance to respawn, no fellow player to help me, only me and a suddenly bound Pioneer System. I know when Ifrit will descend, when the Scions will face danger, the Garlean soldiers' patrol routes, and the locations of every hidden supply cache. The game knowledge I've accumulated over eight years is my only means of survival. Now that I'm in Eorzea, and have taken up the mantle of a pioneer, I'll protect this land.
FF14, the Seventh Umbral Calamity. I, Lin Ye, begin my journey here, fighting to the death until everything I care about is safe.
