The day of supernatural awakening.
I woke up in a junkyard, with a black coffin resting in my palm.
The scanner classified me as F-rank, noncombatant, and recommended that I be decommissioned.
The whole crowd burst out laughing. “The coffin’s come to life!”
A beast horde besieged the city. The upper city announced it was abandoning the lower city.
I guarded the gate alone and drew a blade from the coffin.
“Watch closely. Even the lower city’s trash can kill.”
Later, I came in first on the exam.
The council speaker tore up my special admission letter. “People from the lower city don’t belong here.”
I said nothing and walked into the forbidden zone.
They began to fear me.
But they didn’t know
Every time my ability evolved, I forgot someone.
The first time, I forgot my mother’s face.
The second time, I forgot my brother’s name.
The third time.
She stood before me, crying.
I couldn’t remember who she was.
The lower city is five hundred meters above the ground.
I spent seventeen years climbing.
Now it’s your turn to bow your heads.
