The Green Ridge Stoneheart Chronicles of Honghuang

A traditional novel of the Classic of Mountains and Seas and the Primordial World. This is my debut work, and it will only get better as I write. The following passage is based on Chapter 162. Chen Yao stood silently amid the storm, watching Shi Heng. The frenzied excitement in her eyes gradually faded.

All her life, she had sought a sliver of hope for her people. But now she could neither obtain it nor fight for it any longer, and Shi Heng had also set out for Chaos. She had nothing left to cling to.

The flush slowly faded from her face, while a calm acceptance of death blossomed in her heart.

“So be it.”

“There is nothing left to fight for, nothing left to seek. Let it end here.”

Chen Yao calmly released all the turbid energy and spiritual breath around her, letting the mountain-like pressure bear down upon her. A look of relief curved her lips.

The power of the four great spirit essences surged and roared, intertwining with the chaotic evil light that filled the sky to form a black hand dozens of yards across. It crashed down toward Chen Yao.

Chen Yao closed her eyes.

A thunderous boom that shook the ravines of the Great Wilderness erupted. Amid the howling wind came a sigh, as if she had finally let go of the obsessions that had bound her for half a lifetime and the shackles she had borne all her life.

When the dust settled, the young Chen Yao was gone from the world forever.
