Historical "jokes" and "truths"

There is passion, intrigue, love, betrayal, and countless "magic operations" that are ridiculous.
For example, in order to save money, the emperor asked eunuchs to serve as "human alarm clocks"; for example, in order to flatter the emperor, ministers paid "wigs" as tribute to the emperor; for example, a war was caused by a disagreement over "kowtow etiquette".
