"You... Are too noisy."
Hidan's legs weakened and he fell to his knees. It wasn't that he wanted to kneel down, it was the weight of the voice that crushed him. He opened his mouth, only to make a gurgling sound.
"In the past forty years, you have been the noisiest." The voice continued, flat and without ups and downs, "It's not like learning. The sacrifice is wrong. It's a waste of effort."
"You... You are..." Hidan finally squeezed out the words, his eyes bloodshot, "The evil god... Is the evil god?! You heard it! You really--"
"I'm not your god." The voice interrupted him, "Those fragments of pages you peeked at are the jokes I threw away decades ago. Exchange pain for strength?" There was finally some emotion in the voice, faint, like mockery, "Silly approach. Pain is not money, but 'material'. But you want to burn material to light a lamp."
Hidan's head was buzzing and he could only lie down and tremble.
"But you did wake me up." The voice paused, as if sizing him up, "Crazy. Persistent. A little silly interest in 'hurt'. And... You are a bit interesting."
