In the small village of Xianmatun, Heilongjiang Province, the legend of the horse fairy is not a scary ghost story, but an old tradition in every household. The Five Immortal Family - Huang Pizi, Fox Fairy, White Hedgehog, Gray Mouse, and Big Python - live in Xianmaling Ridge in the back mountain. They help people treat illnesses, find lost cows, ward off disasters, and mediate neighborhood disputes in exchange for incense, wine, meat, and melon seeds.
The protagonist Guan Shan, who is in his thirties, worked on an assembly line in Guangzhou for ten years before returning to the village after his father died of illness. He didn't believe this since he was a kid, thinking it was feudal superstition. But as soon as I got home, I opened the broken account book left by my father: I owed a lot of debt to the Huang family. Huang Pizi, who knocked on the door in the middle of the night, appeared and asked for the debt in a high-pitched Northeastern accent: "Eldest nephew, your father promised you to be a pawn, and you have to pay back the debt."
Guan Shan went from carrying unbelief to being forced to bow his head by being scratched at the door, falling ill, and collectively losing his soul. A developer in the village came to dig up the mountain, and the fairy family collectively made trouble: the excavator stalled, the weasel bowed, the soul lost its soul and had diarrhea... Guanshan was caught in the middle, mediating the internal strife of the fairy family, guarding the mountain and making money. Xiaomei, her first love, divorced and returned to the village, and the two rekindled their old relationship; Lin Xiao, a female reporter in the city, did not believe in evil, but bowed her head when she came to interview; her son Guan Xiangen was born, and he was blessed with immortality.
The Immortal family is not a god, but a family that loves to drink, is greedy for melon seeds, holds grudges, and protects its shortcomings. The story is absurd and sad: the countryside is in decline, young people are leaving, traditions are broken but they still survive. Guan Shan carried the letter on his shoulders. He wanted to go to the city and made a fuss, so he stayed.
If you believe it, there will be it; if you don't believe it, there will be nothing; people leave and come back, their roots are in the northeast.

Strongly recommend this book!
The descriptions of the fairy family, the village, and the characters are very vivid, and the plot makes people more and more fascinated by it. The author writes so well, please help me! Let more people discover this treasure~ 📚✨
The writing is solid and the details are true. The fairy family is very particular about things and the rules in the hall. The logic is not made up. The more you read, the more convinced you become.
