The Body Reconstructor

This is an apocalyptic world where the uncanny has descended and order has utterly collapsed. The laws of physics have twisted, and incomprehensible supernatural phenomena and monsters thrive amid the ruins of the cities. The survivors face two terrors: scarce resources and uncanny corruption that eats away at their minds. To stay alive, people have no choice but to modify their bodies, replacing limbs and organs with scraps from the ruins and tissue from uncanny creatures. They gain strength, but gradually lose their human form and emotions in return. The protagonist, Li Mo, is a former mechanical engineer, now a lone wanderer among the ruins and a body-modification specialist. Seeking supplies and the truth behind the child with a human body and a goat's head who appears in his recurring nightmares, he ventures deep into a perilous medical center. He must face unknown monsters lurking in dark lairs and other raiders with hidden motives, while navigating a survivors' black market rife with betrayal and deceit. As he explores further, he discovers that some humans are awakening strange abilities, and that the ruins contain mysterious technological remains far beyond the old world's capabilities. His own fragmented dreams seem to be piecing together a startling secret: why the world fell, and where it is headed.
