This is an apocalyptic world where strangeness has descended and order has completely collapsed. The laws of physics are distorted, and incomprehensible supernatural phenomena and monsters breed in the ruins of the city. The survivors face a double fear: scarce survival resources and strange pollution that corrodes the spirit. In order to survive, people had to modify their bodies, replacing limbs and organs with ruined parts and tissues of strange creatures. While gaining strength, they also paid the price of gradually moving away from the "human" form and emotions. The protagonist Li Mo, a former mechanical engineer who is now a solo traveler and body modifier in ruins, goes deep into a crisis-ridden medical center for supplies and the truth about the "goat-headed child" hidden in recurring nightmares. Not only does he have to face unknown monsters in the dark lair and other predators with ulterior motives, he also has to navigate the black market of survivors that is full of gangsters and fraud. As his exploration deepens, he discovers that some humans have begun to awaken to strange abilities. The ruins are scattered with the remains of mysterious technology that far exceeds the level of the old era. His fragmented dreams seem to be piecing together an astonishing secret about why the world fell and where it will lead.

"I thought it was just another doomsday survival story, but when I read the chapter of Lan Jing, I discovered that it turned out to be about 'waiting' - the younger brother waited in the nutrient solution for three years, the older brother waited for seven years with a signal transmitter, and Li Mo took the relics across the wasteland to go to the last place. In this rusty world, the hardest thing is not the mechanical arm, but the phrase 'I am'."
