I Died Right from the Start, Then Came Back and Plundered the Paranormal

The day the great transformation began, eerie entities poured into the human world through cracks in the sky. Shen Mo watched with his own eyes as his father and younger sister were killed. The creature that killed them looked at him, then left.

He lived alone in the Edge District with that question for over a year. Then one day, a living shadow swallowed him in an abandoned supermarket.

He died.

Then he woke up.

The thing that killed him had turned to ash, and a power that wasn't his own flowed from his fingertips.

Whenever a supernatural being kills him, he can come back to life and seize its core ability.

But resurrection comes at a cost. His reserves are limited, and the cooldown grows longer each time. Worse still, if he dies in an ordinary fall or gets shot, he gains nothing. He just wastes a life.

So the real question was never “How do I survive?”

It was: How should he die, and at whose hands, to make it worthwhile?

While everyone else thinks about how to survive, he calculates how to meet his death.

And deep beneath it all, the mystery that has haunted him for over a year is slowly coming to light. Why did that creature spare him back then? What exactly is the “seed” inside him?
