A serialized novel based on the game "Contempt"
The inner wall of the culture chamber glowed with a pulsating dark red light, and the mucus slowly slipped from the transparent plexiglass-like film. The moment Aiden's fingers penetrated the membrane, the cold touch brought fragments of memories that did not belong to him into his mind - an illusion of an endless corridor, the scream of some kind of machinery and flesh, and an instruction deeply embedded in the bottom of his consciousness: "Go to the core."
He fell to the slippery floor and found himself at the bottom of a giant chamber. The surrounding walls were like the digestive tract of some giant beast, with rib-like structures undulating and pulsing regularly, emitting a low resonance. The air was filled with the smell of rust and humus, as well as a faint, cloyingly sweet smell of decay.
Aiden looked down at his arm. Under his skin, a faint blue biological light path could be seen flowing slowly, consistent with the pulsating frequency of the surrounding walls. He had no memory of the past, only the repeated instructions and a strange symbol that kept flashing in his palm - like an eye or a door.
