Romance of the Five Dynasties

"The Romance of the Five Dynasties" is one of Cai Dongfan's "Popular Romance of the Past Dynasties" series. It vividly reproduces the turbulent history of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms in the form of a chapter novel. The book has 60 chapters in total, starting from Zhu Wen's usurpation of the Tang Dynasty and the establishment of the Liang Dynasty to the rise of Kuangyin in the later Zhou Dynasty, running through the changes of the Liang, Tang, Jin, Han, and Five dynasties, as well as the rise and fall of the ten kingdoms of Wu, Chu, Fujian, Southern Tang, and Shu. The author uses a popular style of writing to narrate the intrigues, conquests, betrayals and loyalty in troubled times, showing the majesty of battles on the battlefield and the treacherousness of palace struggles. The book creates the images of Zhu Wen, Li Cunxu, Liu Shouguang and many other heroes.
