The story begins with a rain in Panjiayuan. Gu Ci, a terminally ill antique shop owner who was heavily in debt, looked at his right hand that was gradually becoming transparent, and realized that he didn't have much time left for him. In order to survive, he used his ability to modify the "footnotes" of all things and boasted a broken brick as "the national seal of Qinhuangzhen". Not only did he scare off debt collectors, but he also accidentally got involved in a battle between the Historical Correction Bureau and the cave monster.
At first, Gu Ci just wanted to make money to survive. He dealt with the cold and charming Valkyrie Song Weixi, the black market queen Ji Hongyao, and the foolish and quick-witted second-generation rich man Jin Bufan. He used absurd lies to package street stall goods into artifacts, and saved danger time and time again. He turned a deer into a horse in "The Corridor of Death" and turned stones into gold in "Tiangong Building". However, as the lies grew bigger and bigger, the world began to worship his fictitious "god", while his true self became increasingly faded in everyone's memory.
The turning point occurs when the villain Nie Wangchuan appears. This madman who has insight into the truth of the world pointed out that the world is just a wrong program, and only formatting can free it. Nie Wangchuan activated the "Tower of Babel" at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, and the world began to collapse. Gu Ci discovered in despair that as a descendant of the "Administrator", he was the only one who could rewrite this code of destruction.
In the final battle, Gu Ci stood on the top of the Tower of Babel, facing the wave of nothingness that was about to engulf the world. He did not wave the artifact, but took out the cheap plastic ring he gave to Song Weixi. Under the gaze of all mankind, he exhausted all his sense of existence and told the last big lie: "This is the Ring of Creation. Use this as a contract to lock time and space."
