In the "filter era", what people see through glasses is a world carefully modified by algorithms. Blemishes are erased, aging is hidden, and everyone lives in the illusion of "perfection" customized for beauty.
Photographer Jiang Lin is one of the few "visually sober" people in this era. When he discovered that filter technology was spreading from beautifying looks to tampering with memories and reconstructing reality, he was determined to lift the veil of falsehood shrouding the world. What he faces is not only Xuxiang Technology, a giant that monopolizes technology, but also hundreds of millions of people who are addicted to the illusion of comfort and regard reality as a disease.
From live-streaming internet celebrities who dare not face themselves in front of the camera, to couples discovering that they have never seen each other's true faces; from history being beautified through filters, to the next generation living in avatars from birth... Jiang Lin and a group of rebels launched "Operation Mirror Shattering" in an attempt to awaken the sleeping world.
