Mass mutations swept through the cities, and order completely collapsed in a short time.
Two years after the viral outbreak, the Central Institute of Science developed an “Isolation Agent.”
After being injected, the infected stopped mutating and became, Synths.
Synths possessed greater physical capabilities and stability. They quickly took control of the power structure and established a new regime: the New District.
Citing the “risk of mutation,” the New District’s rulers refused to accept purebloods.
Those unwilling to undergo modification had no choice but to leave. In the wastelands and borderlands, they established an independent zone known as the Free Zone.
The two regions remained isolated from each other, outwardly peaceful, for decades.
