Spring Comes Late Within These Walls

[Three thousand beauties in the harem, every one a pawn, but even pawns want to live.]

Beauty Ling thought that as long as she climbed into the emperor's bed, she would survive.

The Noble Consort thought that as long as she was ruthless enough, she could secure her position.

Consort Shu thought that being true to herself would win her genuine affection.

The newly arrived county princess thought she could turn from a pawn into a player.

They were all wrong.

In this cannibalistic inner palace,

sisterhood is false, favor is false, and even their lives are only borrowed.

Some smile as they offer poisoned wine; others stab with tears in their eyes.

Some are made consorts, only to be sent to the Cold Palace in the blink of an eye.

Some think that bearing the emperor's child will let them turn their fortunes around, but they don't know that

in this harem, the thing that may be worth the least is the safety of mother and child.

[Before You Dive In]

✓ No one is born evil. They are only pitiful people driven mad.

✓ They were kind once, too, until kindness nearly got them killed.

✓ No female lead, only a group of mad beauties trying to stay alive.

✓ If you don't fight in the harem, you die. If you do, you might die even faster.

✓ The plot takes its time, and hearts change slowly. If you want people going on a killing spree from the start, proceed with caution.
