I Became the King of Hell, and They Docked My Year-End Bonus from the Start

One moment, the bungee cord snaps. The next, I'm bound to the Underworld System and made the 73rd-generation King of Hell.

I haven't collected my year-end bonus or finished my snacks, and I still haven't paid rent. You're telling me I have to manage performance reviews for the Eighteen Hells?

Right in front of me:

Meng Po is offering half-price refills on her forgetfulness soup by the Bridge of Helplessness, while White Impermanence is delivering souls and getting docked for bad reviews.

Development of the Forgotten River's five-star scenic area has stalled, and the Three Lives Stone forum is full of complaints about “recklessly matchmaking people.”

Nine million old cases are piled up on my desk, waiting for approval. My subordinates look at me like I'm the last sucker left.

“Since you call me the boss...”

I install an office automation System in the Underworld. The TS-001 automatic case adjudicator goes online, with KPIs directly tied to the lottery for reincarnation slots.

I set up an Underworld intranet, get Wi-Fi running, and livestream investigations, working the ghost officials so hard they cry for their mothers.

The Celestial Court inspection team is here? Perfect!

I livestream the trials of manipulative scumbags and unscrupulous merchants, showing all three realms what modern Hell management looks like.

Then one day, after I approve “Di Ting Hair-Growth Tonic” as an employee benefit...

Ox-Head grows hair down to his waist, Horse-Face gets rainbow highlights, and the bald monks in the Technical Department shine with the Buddha's light.

Meanwhile, deep in the files, an inverted blood lotus mark quietly appears.

The Forgotten River explodes, ghost officials are obliterated, and reincarnation data is tampered with...

A voice chuckles from the shadows: “Little King of Hell, the waters of the Underworld run deeper than you think.”

I slam down the electronic Book of Life and Death and pick up my modified soul-hooking chain.

“Deep?”

“Then let's drain it and see what demons and monsters are hiding underneath.”
