[Full Synopsis]
This is a cultivation story about “laziness” and “reliability.”
Ye Xiaohua is an orphan his master took in. He lives a poor but peaceful life in the declining Lingxiao Sect. His master runs off every few days, and his senior brother spends the whole year in seclusion, so Ye Xiaohua has to shoulder all the sect’s chores by himself.
Then one day, his senior brother emerged from seclusion.
This senior brother is called A-Dai, and he’s just as his name suggests: a fool.
Just how foolish is he? He can go three months without eating because he’s “too lazy to eat.” He can lie down while cultivating because he’s “too lazy to sit up.” When challenged, he can make his junior brother fight in his place because he’s “too lazy to move.”
Yet this man, lazy to the extreme, always makes the most reliable choice when it matters.
For his master, he can venture alone into the Mountain of No Return.
For the Dragon Palace, he can give up his life-bound dragon pearl.
For his junior brother, he can silently stand guard without saying a word.
The story begins when their master runs off yet again. Ye Xiaohua and Senior Brother A-Dai set out to find him. They travel to the Northern Frontier, the Western Wastes, Kunlun, and the Southern Sea. Along the way, they meet Uncle Gui, the Dragon Palace steward; Hong Niang, who claims to be A-Dai’s older sister; the Black Flood Dragon Ancestor; and the real Dragon King, Ao Guang.
Together, they uncover Senior Brother A-Dai’s origins: he is the reincarnation of the Dragon Palace Crown Prince. They gather the three keys to the Dragon Palace, rebuild the Lingxiao Sect, and seal the rift to the Demon Realm.
Along the way, Ye Xiaohua grows from an honest child who cries easily into someone who can stand on his own. Senior Brother A-Dai goes from a lazy man who spends all day spacing out to someone who finds his family and his purpose.
