Synopsis of the novel *The Art of Influence* *The Art of Influence* is an epic Eastern fantasy blending Republican-era mystical arts, the awakening of the soul, and the cycles of fate. The story begins on a snowy night in Beiping, when Liu Ruyan, a celebrated performer from the Qingxi troupe, cuts off her own arm to gain an audience and presents a golden saber, unveiling the truth behind a long-buried mystical art: the “Return to Origin Through Reverse Seeding” is not a method for stealing souls and becoming divine, but a means of salvation sealed by a mother with her life. The protagonist, Tao Kang, bears the curse of a “body that channels the divine.” Struggling against a fate of devouring and being devoured, he passes through *The Sleeve-Cutting Calamity*, *The Return-to-Origin Calamity*, *Echoes*, *The Commoners’ Calamity*, *The Lampbearer*, and finally *The Tale of the Returning Lamp*. From a sacrificial offering manipulated by others, he grows into the keeper of a gate who breaks the cycle of reincarnation. In the end, he becomes golden dust, scattering among the people and kindling countless flames of awakening. The words “the art of influence” come from the idea of “influencing the heart with the heart, and shaping the soul with the soul.” True inheritance is not plunder, but inspiration; not control, but awakening. When golden dust falls over the streets, when a blind child sings *The Incense-Burning Chronicle*, and a faint light glimmers between everyone’s brows, anyone might become a beacon. That is the power of influence: a single moment of awakening can set alight an endless night stretching back through the ages. This is a journey of reciprocity, exploring memory, freedom, and the soul of art. It is also an Eastern parable that moves from “mystical arts” to “folk art,” and from “divine authority” to “the hearts of the people.” Amid the fading echoes from the stage and the whispers of the wind and snow, who is passing on the flame? Who is awakening? And who is quietly safeguarding that undying voice of song? *The Art of Influence*: Light is not held by one person alone, and awakening always finds an echo.
