Ryan gradually discovers that the shadows of all mankind are uniting to plot a silent coup. The shadows are fed up with being vassals, bound by the light, forced to imitate their masters. They have mastered the ability to temporarily separate from the main body and act independently under specific lighting (such as the light refracted by tear diamonds), and begin to systematically replace, manipulate and even murder the main body. The leader of the shadow is a powerful being who calls himself the "Dark Lord". It claims to establish a "shadow republic" and let the ontology become the silent background of the shadow.
