Synopsis of Curse of the Blood Hound
When a century-old curse collides with cutting-edge neural technology, what is being hunted: ghosts, or the human heart?
In 2025, Li Zhenghao, an executive at Kunpeng Tech in Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou, dies under bizarre circumstances. His face is frozen in terror, a strange set of enormous claw marks is left at the scene, and the security cameras mysteriously malfunction. Lu Mingyuan, deputy chief of criminal investigations, takes the case and discovers that the victim's fear was precisely amplified by some kind of biochemical agent.
As the investigation deepens, a century-old curse comes to light. In the late Qing dynasty, the Lin family, salt merchants who had seized a commoner's daughter, were cursed by the Hounds of Hell. Their descendants have since died one after another in the same bizarre fashion. The founder of the company where the victim worked is Lin Mubai, a descendant of the Lin family.
Meanwhile, Su Wanqing, a reporter for Southern Metropolis Daily, is also investigating the case. Three years ago, her father died in an “accident” at a laboratory at South China University of Technology. Before his death, he warned her, “The Lin family's project will open Pandora's box.”
When Lu Mingyuan opens the case files from 1995, he is horrified to discover that the officer in charge was his own father. Along the edge of the file, his father had written: “Not a dog. A machine. Glowing eyes.”
A high-tech crime scene intertwines with the legend of a century-old curse, and an unsolved case from thirty years ago bears a startling resemblance to today's murders. Every victim suffers from severe cynophobia. Every crime scene contains forged claw marks. Every set of surveillance cameras fails at the crucial moment.
Is the curse real, or is someone using cutting-edge neural technology to carry out a meticulously planned revenge spanning thirty years?
Lu Mingyuan must race against time to find the killer...
