He had just said goodbye to his best friend and was crossing an intersection when a truck hit him. When he woke up, he was astonished to find himself in the world of Fox Spirit Matchmaker.

Talk about a disastrous start: he had landed five hundred years in the future. The soul of the child Bai Qiu’en had found seemed to have vanished, and Lin Tao had merged with it.

Lin Tao: Great, I seem to have been born utterly talentless, unable to cultivate.

Just as Lin Tao was plunged into despair, a mechanical voice rang in his mind: “Roleplaying System activating.”

Lin Tao asked, “What does that mean?”

“You can choose the key traits of the character you wish to play, such as being powerful or handsome,” a mechanical voice answered in his mind.

Lin Tao cheered inwardly. Just you wait, cheapskate dad who steals money from children! I’ll make sure you end up without even your underwear!

A wicked smile tugged at Lin Tao’s lips. “Let’s start out powerful, with a deep bond to the Tushan sisters...”

“Ding! The beginner’s gift pack allows you to select only two traits. The first two have been recognized automatically.” The System’s voice rang in his mind, and a giant wheel suddenly appeared before him.

“I’m going for it! Give me a legendary gold pull!” Lin Tao prayed silently.

“Congratulations, Host.” A flash of golden light appeared, and Lin Tao beamed. “You drew the character Tushan Honghong.”
