What’s it like to sing non-mainstream hits on a nostalgic music show?
Lu Yao was born into this world with memories of another life and a treasure trove of Earth’s entertainment at his fingertips. But in his ignorance as a youngster, he sold the copyrights to hit songs like “Bad Girl” for next to nothing.
After graduating with a master’s degree from a conservatory, he decides to make money in the entertainment industry, only to discover that non-mainstream music has become a “stain on the music scene”, and he is the anonymous founder of that very “stain.”
Desperate for fame, he signs up for the top nostalgic music show, Voice of Classics. While the other contestants spend big money to cover “Kiss Goodbye” and “The Story of Time,” he can’t afford the rights to anything, so he has no choice but to sing his own “shameful past” in front of hundreds of millions of viewers: “Back then, I let go...”
The judges scold him: “A disgrace to the music scene!” But the internet goes wild: “My youth has come back to life!”
Overnight, he goes from an “washed-up internet pariah” to a top-tier star and a walking blast from the past.
Just as everyone expects him to keep milking the non-mainstream nostalgia, Lu Yao pivots to variety shows, becoming a “game-breaking glitch” who drives everyone up the wall. He starts a company, invests in and stars in a low-budget web drama that unexpectedly takes the internet by storm, and then makes a film that has award-winning actors scrambling to join the cast.
A reporter asks, “How did you transform from an internet singer into a business mogul?”
Lu Yao looks at the entertainment empire he controls and answers sincerely, “At first, I just wanted to earn back the money I lost selling those copyrights.”
The lyrics of the song are not complete, and the main character is too stressed. You have to understand what the readers want to see. I don't know your subsequent plot, but with the current word count, you seem very unhappy, and you don't feel like listening to it at the same time, so I give you two stars.
