I swear, I only wanted to have a normal relationship
Here’s what happened:
I’m Lin Youyou, and I’d been single for 24 years.
Last month, my best friend nagged me to find a boyfriend for the 108th time. In a fit of anger, I went to a temple and made a wish:
“Please, just let me have a sweet romance!”
The next morning, I woke up with five naked men in my bed.
On closer inspection, they were the five dogs I’d raised.
A golden retriever, a German shepherd, a border collie, and two strays I’d just taken in.
They’d all turned into men.
The golden retriever nuzzled my arm. “Morning, Niannian.”
The German shepherd stood guard at the bedroom door, warily watching the window.
The border collie was studying the TV remote, then turned back to grin at me. “How does this thing work?”
The stray curled up in the corner of the closet, trembling.
I lost it.
I rushed back to the temple to demand an explanation from the abbot.
He smiled serenely. “You wished for a sweet romance. I’d say I’ve gone above and beyond.”
“Want them to turn back? Sure. Experience a moment of romantic spark with each dog, and then you can choose.”
“Remember, a spark is the process. Knowing where your heart belongs is the result.”
Me: ??? Five times the romance???
When I got home, my best friend Lin Xiaolu was practically bursting with excitement:
“You’ve hit the jackpot! Five handsome guys! I’ll teach you how to flirt!”
Then all the moves she taught me, like pinning someone against the wall, the smoldering gaze, and playing hard to get, backfired spectacularly:
I pinned the golden retriever against the wall. He leaned down and kissed me, then blushed himself;
I pinned the German shepherd against the wall. He lifted me up until we were eye to eye. “This height works better.”
I pinned the border collie against the wall. He turned the tables and had me blushing and breathless;
I pinned the stray against the wall. He turned his head and muttered, “What are you doing…?” His ears turned bright red.
