The sky over the Sea of Storms is always covered with a thick layer of lead-gray clouds.
Chen Kuiyun leaned against the greasy wooden window of the tavern, looking at the rotating gears on the street outside. The large one is nearly ten feet in diameter and is embedded in the outer wall of the building, driving the opening and closing of the pipe valves in the entire building; the small one is no more than the size of a fist, rattling in the mechanical device on the waist and shoulders of pedestrians. Steam gushes out from between the cracks in the floor tiles, mixing with the salty smell of the sea breeze, making the entire street foggy.
This is the Gear City—a wonder, or rather, a cage, hanging in the eye of the storm on the sea.
