In the future society, human beings will pursue "sensory professionalization" in pursuit of ultimate efficiency. The five senses can be stripped away and specialized and cultivated: the taster warns of food safety, the hearing person monitors urban sonar, and the tactile person sculpts precision devices. The protagonist loses his vision due to an accident, but accidentally awakens to "cross-sensory synaesthesia" - he can taste colors, touch sounds, and smell emotions. He becomes a disabled person who is both discriminated against and coveted.
When a series of "invisible crimes" committed by exploiting sensory loopholes sweep across the city, the protagonist is forced to join the Sensory Administration to track down the mastermind behind it. However, while sneaking into the underground sensory black market, he discovered that his vision had been transplanted into the eyes of a mysterious criminal, who was using this vision to execute a "cognitive tampering plan" covering the entire city. Facing the monopoly and oppression of the sensory elite, the protagonist must unite with other deficient people to use informal synesthesia to disintegrate this conspiracy and reshape fairness and truth at the boundaries of perception.
