The Wandering Healer

The double-pupiled youth Gu Xichi was abandoned as an “omen” and raised by Gu Qiusheng, a disgraced imperial physician. At fifteen, he saved plague victims with the “Thirteen Wandering Dragon Needles,” angering Imperial Physician Qin Wujie, who drove him from the capital. From then on, he traveled with a medicine bag on his back and a wind lantern in hand, known as the “Wandering Physician.”

He journeyed across the Nine Provinces: saving the girl A Ruan in a ghost market and giving her a new bone and a strange ability; breaking a love curse in Peach Blossom Cove; ending a “lost heart” military crisis on the northern frontier; removing a ghost fetus in Shu; retrieving merfolk scales in the East Sea... Every illness he treated exposed a hidden scheme in the imperial court.

When the emperor was struck by the strange “Sleeping Dragon” illness, Gu Xichi was locked in Bronze Sparrow Tower and used acupuncture to force out the “Dragon Blood Gu.” Instead, he was framed for regicide. The Qin uncle and nephew conspired with foreign powers, using war to breed gu, intent on bringing the realm to ruin.

In the end, he sacrificed himself to become a furnace. The poisonous gu turned on him, but he saved a hundred thousand soldiers and civilians, at the cost of shattered bones and severed meridians.

After his “death,” the bronze mask still appeared on snowy nights. A Ruan took up the wind lantern and wrote in an empty medical ledger in Kunlun: “The name of the illness afflicting all living beings is ‘attachment.’”

Silver needles scattered, light entered the storm...

The wandering physician vanished, but the words “Where the heart finds peace” remained in the world forever.
