On Our Wedding Night, the Groom Cuffed Me

On our wedding night, the groom handcuffed me

Seventeen years ago, a teenage boy was buried deep beneath a schoolyard, on his knees. Seventeen years later, the rainy season in Yunchuan washes him out and tears open the life Yang Xiaoye had stitched together with lies and fear.

He's an antique watch repairer, skilled at fixing the most precise mechanisms, yet unable to mend his own shattered memories. The “scales” around his neck burn in the dead of night, the only pain he knows to be real, reminding him that he may have been a demon on that rainy night. He avoids the city's many “Eyes in the Sky,” building himself a timeless island amid the flood of data.

Chen Mingyuan, captain of the criminal investigation team and keeper of the “Eyes in the Sky” System, has wedding invitations fresh with ink. He vows to rid the city, and his love, of the final shadow before he becomes a groom. He painstakingly pieces the evidence together, and every clue, like a tired bird returning to its nest, points toward the silent man hiding behind the ticking of clocks.

One is a “killer” who can breathe only by altering his memories; the other, a “hunter” who shines the light of logic into every shadow. This pursuit should have had no suspense.

Until Chen Mingyuan discovers that his beloved fiancée smiles eerily at empty space in the dead of night. Until the wedding bells are about to ring, and he stands before the altar, holding the handcuffs meant for the real killer, looking at her in her white veil, smiling like a flower.

And the real hunter, at that very moment, tenderly locks the shackles around the bride's slender wrists.
