On the first day of the semester at Xingyao University, Shen Qingyue stepped onto the stage as the freshman representative, only for Jiang Yichen, the son of a university trustee, to stop her backstage on the grounds that her “paperwork was incomplete.”
Everyone thought it was a deliberate act of bullying by the privileged against a student from a humble background. Only Jiang Yichen knew the truth: this was the first test he had set for her.
From then on, the student council election, the campus arts festival, the family business war, the national competition... Every seemingly accidental encounter was a move in his carefully laid-out game.
He thought he was the only player, maneuvering at every turn to back her into a corner and see how she would escape.
Until one rainy night, she slid a piece of evidence across to him:
“Jiang Yichen, take a guess. In this game, who’s the hunter, and who’s the prey?”
