The Eight Immortals Return: The Demon Calamity and the Resurgence of the Eastern Journey, an Unofficial Pact

Eight Immortals Return: A New Tale of the Eastern Journey and the Outsider's Pact tells the story of Lin Feng, a modern history graduate student who transmigrates to the era of the Eight Immortals' Eastern Journey because of a mysterious bronze fragment, unexpectedly becoming an "outsider pact-bearer." This "outsider's pact" is his golden finger: it lets him analyze the rules governing immortals and demons, and turn modern knowledge into a way to overcome crises.

At this time, the evil sorcerer Zhao Xuan, from three hundred years in the future, sends modified monsters back to the present to disrupt the Three Realms and seize the Eight Immortals' immortal essence. Forced into a temporal conundrum, Lin Feng joins the Eight Immortals, including Lu Dongbin, progressing from mutual suspicion to fighting side by side. Together, they use scientific principles to unravel illusions and the power of conviction to resist sorcery.

From the Mirage Demon of the Eastern Sea to the Reversed Immortal Formation, Lin Feng uses his mortal body to unite the strength of immortals, humans, and demons. He must not only protect history from being rewritten, but also choose between going home and shouldering his responsibility. This struggle across time and space will ultimately reveal the truth: "Protection has nothing to do with identity, and conviction can stand against immortals and demons."
