The zombie apocalypse has brought civilization to its knees.
While every survivor risks their life for a bite to eat amid the ruins, a light shines incongruously in the heart of the city.
Lu Chang's Seven-Day Convenience Store is open for business.
It has only three rules:
1. Barter only, fair deals (the shopkeeper has the final say on what counts as fair).
2. No violence inside the store (any consequences are your own responsibility).
3. Today's special might be your only chance to survive.
At first, people think the shopkeeper is crazy, or perhaps an even more powerful illusion-type zombie.
That is, until the Thunderlord trades every last one of his crystals for a pack of instant noodles and awakens dual abilities on the spot;
Until the Iron Legion tries to seize the supplies by force, only for all their weapons to turn into candy, leaving them forced to put on maid outfits and clean the shelves;
Until a zombie horde surrounds the city and people wait in despair for death, only to hear Lu Chang's lazy voice over the broadcast:
“To celebrate the first anniversary of my store, today's special is a ‘City-Defense Energy Shield, 24-Hour Trial Version.’ It can be exchanged for... a story that makes me happy.”
Eventually, every survivor in the world understands:
In the apocalypse, the scariest things aren't zombies or famine. It's when you want to trade the Imperial Jade Seal for a bottle of Lao Gan Ma, only to hear Lu Chang say:
“Sorry, we're sold out. How about today's special instead?”
