A Lowly Border Soldier: What Gives You the Right to Build the Great Wall with Flesh and Blood?

Chen Xiao, a low-ranking soldier at the frontier, came from humble beginnings and had a pure heart. In the final years of the Dayue Dynasty, natural disasters and man-made calamities ravaged the land, the court was corrupt, and the 300,000-strong border army was abandoned. The Wolf Tribe swept south, staining the Great Wall with blood, and he rose from a mountain of corpses.

His provisions and pay were withheld, his comrades were slaughtered, the inspecting official skimmed supplies, and traitors colluded with the enemy. He endured humiliation, stole into the granary at night, killed the spies alone, led a suicide squad in the rear guard, and steadied the army with three arrows.

His wounds had not healed, and his friend was already dead. Zhao Tiezhu fell in battle, but with his friend's keepsake in hand, Chen Xiao's vow would never fade. The court was suspicious and powerful ministers held sway. He risked his life to stand up for his own, all to protect the last remnants of loyalty and valor.

From a scrawny foot soldier to a centurion, he advanced with blood marking every step. With foreign enemies still unconquered and rebellion rising at home, could he use his own flesh and blood to hold up a broken land?
