“Heaven and Earth are not benevolent. They treat all things as straw dogs. When Heaven and Earth ail, all living beings become medicine.”
When primordial chaos first divided, pure energy rose to become the heavens, while turbid energy sank to become the earth. Their interaction gave birth to spiritual energy, which nourished all things and allowed humanity to cultivate, comprehend the Dao, and seek immortality.
Yet the Heavenly Dao is flawed, and every thirty-six thousand years, a calamity is bound to strike.
The last great calamity became known to history as the “World-Eroding Disaster.”
The firmament split open, and boundless corrosive rust rained down from the Nine Heavens. This energy belonged to neither the Five Elements nor yin and yang. Wherever it passed, spiritual ley lines withered, treasures gathered dust, cultivation arts warped, and cultivators lost their minds.
In just a few short years, a cultivation civilization that had flourished for ten thousand years collapsed completely. Thus began the “Age of Corrosion.”
