Qingwu Town lies among the folds of the Tianmu Mountain foothills. A clear stream winds past it, dividing the town in two: one side rests against the mountains, the other faces the water. Beneath an old locust tree at the eastern end of town live a grandfather and his grandson, Lin Qingshan and Lin Yanqiu. Qingwu Town appears ordinary, but in truth it conceals the mysteries of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. The mountains behind it form the “dragon's tail” of the Tianmu range, while the stream before it wraps around the town like a “jade belt.” The town as a whole takes the shape of a “Taiji embracing yang,” and the old locust tree stands at the “yang eye” of the Taiji diagram, gathering energy and concentrating the spirit, warding off every evil and drawing in countless blessings.
