Viewing the Tomb, Seeing an Immortal

With the path to immortality severed and resources monopolized, Chen Guanling, a lowly rogue cultivator with an inferior spiritual root, struggles to make ends meet. His only support is the ancestral Earth Vein Dragon-Seeking Art and a feng shui compass. Though they cannot sense the density of spiritual energy, they can reveal the secrets of the earth's qi and mountains, helping him find immortal cultivators' burial sites hidden by time and formations when he is at his most desperate.

Thus begins an unusual path to immortality: risking his life amid ancient tombs' restrictions and taking the resources he needs to cultivate from the legacies of the dead. Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core... With every step forward in cultivation, he traverses mausoleums sealed beneath the dust of countless ages.

But what he finds in the tombs is more than cultivation techniques and treasured relics. There are also the tomb owners' unfulfilled obsessions, lingering calamities, and inescapable karmic ties. He begins as a tomb raider seeking to survive, but gradually becomes a cleaner burdened with the past, tasked with dealing with ancient tombs of evil whose loosened seals threaten the world.

Ancient secrets are gradually revealed. The masterminds who read the Mandate of Heaven see him as a heretic who disrupts fate, while all manner of factions covet his secret arts and the legacies he uncovers. When Chen Guanling stands before the peerless evil tomb that holds the greatest calamity ever to befall heaven and earth, he casts out his compass and cries across the universe: "You see an immortal's tomb as a grave and me as a thief, yet you don't know that the stars and bones of this universe, and the rise and fall of all ages, are themselves one boundless tomb!"

"Today, I shall make my own body a coffin to bear the burdens of the ages, and this tomb a vessel to carry me along my path!"

Guanling encounters immortals; he buries calamity and ascends. This is the legend of one who sought eternal life among graves and ultimately unearthed a path to heaven uniquely his own.
